How To Start Atlas Copco Air Compressor

Feb 14, 2025
  • Check before startup

1. Oil level and quality inspection
-The oil level should be in the green area of the oil dipstick. If the oil level is low (red area), Atlas special lubricating oil should be added to avoid mixing other brands of oil products.
-Check if the oil color is clear, and replace it promptly if it is cloudy or blackened.
2. System status confirmation
-Cooling water system: Ensure that the inlet pressure is ≥ 0.3MPa and the water temperature is ≤ 32 ℃ to avoid compressor tripping caused by high temperature.
-Gas valve: The manual valve of the gas supply pipeline should be fully opened, the condensate drain valve should be closed, and the filter drain valve should be adjusted according to whether it automatically drains.
-Power and instrumentation: Check that there are no alarm prompts on the control panel, the voltage is stable, and the indicator lights are normal.
3. Mechanical component inspection
-Confirm that the belt tension is moderate, without cracks or wear; Tighten the anchor bolts to prevent abnormal vibration during operation.

  •  Startup and loading operations

1. Start the process
-Turn on the power switch and observe the indicator lights on the control panel (such as power lights and fault lights).
-Press the start button (usually marked as "I"), and the air compressor enters the no-load operation state, automatically loading after 20 seconds. If manual loading is required, press the "F1" key to switch to loading mode.
2. Operation monitoring
-Display screen parameters: View exhaust pressure (such as 7.0 bar), operating time, oil temperature (normal range 80-95 ℃), and fault codes through a four line display screen.
-Exception handling: If the alarm light flashes, immediately check the fault information (such as "motor overload" or "oil filter blockage"), press the "F2/F3" button to reset or contact maintenance.
---

  •  Precautions during operation

1. Regularly discharge condensate water
-Manually open the oil-water separator and gas storage tank drain valve every 2 hours to avoid water accumulation affecting the quality of the gas source.
2. Maintenance cycle management
-Daily: Clean the surface of the equipment, check for leaks, and record operating parameters.
-Monthly: Clean the air filter (replace if the pressure difference exceeds 0.05 bar), and check the lubrication of the transmission components.
-Year: Replace oil filters, oil and gas separators, verify safety valves and pressure gauges.
---

  • Shutdown operation

1. Normal shutdown
-Press the stop button (marked as "O"), and the air compressor will stop after unloading and running for 30 seconds. Close the exhaust valve, cut off the power, and keep the cooling water circulating for at least 30 minutes.
2. Emergency shutdown
-When encountering abnormal vibration, high temperature, or leakage, press the red emergency button. After the fault is resolved, manually reset and reinitialize the parameters.

  • Common fault handling

    Fault phenomenon

    Possible reasons

    resolvent

    Exhaust temperature too high

Blockage of oil cooler and insufficient cooling water

    Clean

the cooler or increase the water flow rate

The pressure difference of the oil filter is large

    Filter blockage

Replace the oil filter (when the pressure difference is greater than 1 bar)

    Unable to load

    Minimum pressure valve malfunction

Clean or replace the valve body

    Control panel has no display

    Power failure, fuse blown

Check the circuit or replace the fuse

  • Safety regulations
-Operation protection: It is strictly prohibited to touch high-temperature components with bare hands. When using compressed air, goggles and earplugs must be worn.
-Long term shutdown: If it exceeds 10 days, drain the condensate water, apply rust proof oil to the cylinder and crankshaft, and cover them with dust
