What is a DTH hammer?
DTH hammers are used with DTH drills and DTH drill bits. They are mainly used in engineering construction such as mines, marble, quarry blasting, water well drilling, etc., with various hard rocks with poor toughness such as hard, high hardness, etc. The optimal hole diameter range for DTH drilling is 90 mm (3.5 inches) to 254 mm (10 inches). Smaller holes are usually drilled with top hammer drills, and larger holes are usually drilled with rotary drills. Choosing the right hammer depends mainly on the type of application, hole diameter, and rock formation type. Ideally, the size of the hammer should match the required hole diameter as much as possible, leaving enough space for the cuttings to be effectively discharged from the hole.
